Ancient games

Fancy an entertaining game, where you also have to rack your brains? Perhaps the traditional Chinese game Mahjong is for you. Mahjong is also played in Taiwan, Korea, Japan and the Philippines. The game consists of 136 stones, to which 8 seasons and flowers can be added.

Or you can try a game of Go. This is also an Asian board game and has been around for about 4000 years. In China, the country where Go is most commonly played, the game is better known as Weiqi. While the first chess computer - IBM's Deep Blue - managed to beat the human world champion back in 1996, it was Google's DeepMind that succeeded in doing so with Go in 2015. This shows once again how complex this ancient game is!

If you fancy something different, try a game of Carrom, Crokinole, Hus or Mikado, the game with the sticks. Did you know that this last game originated in Hungary? Remove the sticks one by one, without moving the other sticks.
