A slate pool table or a pool table with a wooden playing field?
The best pool table choice for you depends on your expectations for playing quality and, of course, your budget. A pool table with a wooden playing surface is more affordable than a slate pool table and is easy to set up by yourself. A slate pool table plays more like those found in pool centers, but in many cases, it should be installed by a professional.
Can the Pool Table be Placed in the Desired Location?
It's important to think carefully about where you want to place your pool table. Consider access to the room where you plan to place it. Especially if the table has to be placed on an upper floor or in a basement, a pool table with a wooden playing surface or a one-piece slate may cause problems. The playing surface of the pool table is delivered in one piece.
Pool tables with a three-piece slate are easier to place on an upper floor.
If it is important that the pool table ones placed can be moved, then a slate pool table is not an option.

Assemble a pool table yourself or have it assembled?
A pool table with a wooden playing field is easy to assemble yourself. The playing field is delivered in one piece, you simply need to attach the legs and level the table. Assembling a slate pool table is almost always skilled work, and we recommend having it professionally installed by our expert installers.
Exceptions to this are the René Pierre Leisure pool tables, the Steel, Brio, and the outdoor pool table Caraïbes; these tables are relatively easy to assemble yourself.
